WICHITA — A weekend DUI check lane in southeast Wichita resulted in two arrests for driving under the influence and 69 citations, police said.

The check lane was conducted between 10:30 p.m. Saturday and 1:30 a.m. Sunday in the 3800 block of East Harry.

The citations included 31 for no proof of insurance, 22 for no driver’s license in possession, 12 for seat belt violations, and two each of child restraint violations and a minor in possession of alcohol.

Nearly 20 drivers were cited and four were arrested Friday night during a DUI checkpoint in Costa Mesa, police officials said.

Many people don’t realize that BUI is as serious as DUI, and as dangerous. Seattle police and prosecutors take boating under the influence seriously.
