Given the dangers, texting while driving penalties should be much more severe than those for driving under the influence. To do otherwise is hypocritical.

Since when is knowing your rights a bad thing? The police are the ones with all the power when they pull somebody over. It is not illegal to “drink and drive” if you are not over the limit for your state.
