DUI offender to get out early

Jessica Winkle was sentenced to a minimum of two years and a maximum of five years in prison. Under the law, she receives credits — days off her sentence — for participating in certain prison activities, including work programs, counseling sessions and classes.

Driver identified, arrested for DUI in early afternoon crash (KSBY San Luis Obispo)

The California Highway Patrol says the woman who crashed around 1:00 p.m. today was arrested for DUI after she was released from the hospital. Melissa A. Hensiek, 23, of Santa Maria, was driving south bound on Hwy. 101 in a 2000 GMC. Another driver reported that Hensiek was driving erratically. Early release ends for DUI offenders (Chicago Sun-Times)

Anti-drunken driving advocates reacted angrily earlier this week whenthe Chicago Sun-Times revealed that Gov. Quinn’s administration hadreleased 18 felony drunken drivers from prison early to serve the restof their prison time on home confinement. On Thursday, those same anti-DUI advocates were cheering after thegovernor ordered all 18 back behind bars to serve the remainder oftheir prison time.
