DUI checkpoint this weekend in Newtown Township
The Northern Delaware County DUI Taskforce will be conducting a DUI checkpoint during the weekend of Saturday, Oct. 30 within Newtown Township. The Northern Delaware County DUI Taskforce is comprised of six municipalities – Haverford, Marple, Newtown, Radnor, Springfield and Upper Darby townships.

Newtown Borough Police Report, July 29-Aug. 2
Thursday, July 29 DUI – Kenneth Nanni Jr., 39, of Mechanicsville, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol as a result of a traffic stop on July 18. Police observed the vehicle fail to stop for a flashing red traffic control signal on Washington Avenue at State Street. Upon stopping the vehicle, police detected the odor of alcohol.

Mike Gallagher, the newly-elected chairman of the Newtown Township Board of Supervisors, faces drunken driving charges following an arrest on Jan. 26 in the township.
